A €63 German train ticket that takes you into Austria, Switzerland and France 🚆
For a slow month in Germany it's the best-value ticket in Europe, and I'd build a whole trip around it.
The Deutschland-Ticket is a monthly pass for regional and local transport across Germany. €63 a month in 2026, reportedly rising to €66.80 in January 2027. It's a subscription, so cancel by the 10th for the end of that month.
The part almost nobody knows: some regional lines run across the border to shared stations, and the ticket goes with them.
🇦🇹 Salzburg and Kufstein in Austria
🇨🇭 Schaffhausen in Switzerland
🇫🇷 Wissembourg and Lauterbourg in France
The catch, and it's a big one: it is not valid on ICE, IC, EC or FlixTrain. On those you need a normal ticket. Check the exact routes on bahn.de before you cross a border.
👉 Swipe for where it takes you and what it doesn't cover.
Save this for your trip and send it to who you'd go with.
